Simply use the following steps (in this order) to make sure your custom nameservers work properly:
1. Register the nameserver hosts at your domain registrar with the IP addresses stated in the New Account Information email we sent you upon sign up. Each registrar has a specific process to do so, so if unsure, please contact your registrar and ask how to "register custom/private nameservers" and they should be able to guide you.
2. Make sure the correct nameservers are listed in your WHM Basic Settings.
3. Also in your WHM Basic Settings, for each nameserver click Configure Address Records and make sure the IP address is correct (The IP addresses for your nameservers are included in the new account email we sent you upon signup) and click Configure Address Records again to create the record (This will sometimes take some time to complete, so please be patient and do not close the window until the completion confirmation appears).
4. Edit your main domains DNS zone in WHM and make sure the nameserver listed in the SOA record matches your NS1 nameserver. Also make sure the nameservers listed in the NS records match your custom nameservers as well.
5. If you have already created any cPanel accounts in WHM before making the above changes, you will need to reset the nameservers for each account/domains DNS zones. In WHM, go to Reset DNS Zone and choose each cPanel account domains DNS zone and reset it. Note: This step must be done only after the above steps have been completed.
Please make sure to allow some time for these changes to propagate as it can take up to 24 hours for the DNS to globally propagate.
